An absolute and total pledge to the improvement the quality of life of our workers and collaborators, with a work force that draws us to the side of their families, a pledge, to the environment and the region, marked by our work and characterized by our social model to be replicated throughout the country.

|
This model has been termed “The Social Payment” as it looks to strengthen community links with Indupalma through various work fronts such as formation programs, education, culture and employment generation. This being thanks to our cultivation projects that have allowed farming families to today become landowners of palm-tree plantations, which with the contribution of their work, together with company initiatives are today a progressive reality.
The education and training at all levels has been an entry or solid base point for actions of social responsibility that have been put in to place by the company. Actions directed towards the personal progress of the people and the generation of landownership and revenue.
In the first instance the Indupalma College with its primary and night bachelor programs for adults offers free education to workers and their families as with associates of cooperatives.

|
Offering basic education for free to boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 12, children of company workers and associates of cooperatives. Also its scope has been increased making available adult education, since 2003 for persons between the ages of 18 and 60 – workers, associates and habitants of San Alberto – with the teaching of literacy or the receiving of training in keys area of basic methods and education.
Within the Indupalma Collage much importance is placed in the Program of Conflict Resolution that since 1996 has formed generations of child mediators, those that have through dialogue, passively resolved conflicts within their school environment.
Furthermore the “Pre-cooperative Pitufos” created in 1999 is the result of the implementation of the subject regarding cooperation, whereby spiritual solidarity, cooperation, economy and team-work are academic fundamentals.
Furthermore the benefits of College education also present a technical and business standard in which workers and cooperatives participate, achieving through this the converting of education into the base of our social commitment.
The training is a constant between company collaborators, in the technical level for maintaining updated knowledge regarding planting, cultivation, crops, handling of industrial extraction processes, equipment maintenance and energy generation. On the part of the company it looks to strengthen administrative type tools to facilitate work and strengthen company processes.
The transmission of knowledge is a constant preoccupation of Indupalma for which they have designed a series of publications of a pedagogic nature, for improved support tools for the carrying out of the education process.
Basic Accounting: Written and edited for workers and cooperative associates, for the development of the basic administrative skills of your business.
Palm-tree Diploma: Directed towards workers and cooperative associates, so that they might be the first to have basic knowledge regarding the African palm-tree.
Furthermore the formation materials are for beneficiaries of the El Palmar and El Horizonte projects as is the Landowner and Alliance Handbook for Peace: The Indupalma Model.
Involvement is essential within the community through the accompaniment of experience and implementation of social programs such as the Community Organization Diploma and Social Projects (CINDE), supporting the integral strengthening of women through the ANSPAC program, using a field and a ball as meeting point for citizens through the “Football for Peace” scheme or the good results achieved thanks to the encouragement of reading through the books of the “Secrets to Tell” foundation, and finally a series of practices that have allowed the region to feel a part of and participate in the consolidation of a better society. Here we elaborate a little more on these programs:
This program has come to an enthusiastic public that involves company workers, associated cooperative workers, teachers and students of education institutions in San Alberto and the region and looks principally to promote the use of peaceful means for the solution of day to day conflicts.
Through the use of the football tradition, practices will be introduced for the construction of a community that values the principles of peaceful coexistence. With some modifications such as the inclusion of two women in each team and the requirement that the first goal be scored by one of the female players, the inhabitants of the region have understood that football is also able to be a scenario of peace. Since October 2001 this new scheme of Balompie has provided an excuse for the filling of football fields in the municipality weekend after weekend.

Indupalma provides support to the women of the region and the required qualifications for having better opportunities of human, social and economic development. Since the year 2000 ANSPAC, the National Catholic pro Self-improvement Personal Action Association has been developing this program that looks to integral training in all aspects of the lives of women: physical, intellectual, affective, economic, social, spiritual and moral.
A program that looks to construct social management models in the region through the qualification of company actors and involved citizens in the promotion of social development in the region. This diploma has been implemented since 2003, under the direction of CINDE, the International Center for Education and Human Development.
The magic of reading arrived in the homes of each of the workers and cooperative associates, through the implementation of the program for the promotion of reading, designed by the Secrets to Tell Foundation of Medellin and financed by Indupalma for the bringing of their book collections to the region. 4500 books in this first part of this program that arrived at the start of 2007.
All our initiatives throughout the course of these years have permitted us to share a better environment, from a social, economic and cultural perspective; a model that conforms to what we consider to be social PAYMENT.
More that just a requirement, to speak of our certification in ISO 14.000 is to present our pledge to the environment and in an open form to the country, to demonstrate that we are an agro-industrial company conscious of the enormous benefit to nature through our activity, obliging us to think consider the environment as a living life form.
At Indupalma the environment is protected from the start of the process, that which signifies thought and action always with the objective of protection and conservation. These challenges are met with the preparation of lands, preventing methods of open air burning and decreasing the use of chemical products for the control of plagues.
In relations to crops there is the constant carrying out of supervision, to ensure that only the necessary quantity of products required for development will be employed, furthermore the waste produced from the pruning or renovation of the same crops produced by the land, will be employed for the separating of biomass materials and the new incorporation of soil nutrients.
In the industrial process there has been implemented the latest technology that offers complete protection to the environment. In the same way, there is no addition of any chemical product and sub-products such as grain, cuttings and husks are employed for the contribution of nutrients to the soil in the field or as combustibles for the boilers that generate the steam necessary for the process.
From the start to the completion of the process our practices respect the environment as demonstrated by the treatment system of lagoon oxidation, that thanks to achieved analysis demonstrates that we surpass the legal standards required.
Our responsibility goes more to the processes, those that are demonstrated in the flora and fauna inventory project and carried out in our plantation to determine the natural wealth of our environment. This is a job that has demonstrated the great variety of species present in Indupalma plantations, from birds, reptiles, mammals and insects, to the exuberant vegetation that with its diverse forms and colors creates a conservation scenario and perfect coexistence with nature.
This is a study that demonstrates that we are a reservation framed in biodiversity, and that palm-tree is an ally of nature. The results of this research have demonstrated that palm-tree plantations do not go against environmental conservation.
All this remains sustained in our ISO 14001 certification that shows our commitment to our region and country, with a future that is rising from each one of our 10.000 hectares dedicated to the generation of wealth and development through the produce of palm-tree.
