24 years of reasearch and pursuit has resulted in the obtaining of what is called hybrid seed inter-specific-hybrid, between the African palm-tree E.guineensis and the American palm-tree E. oleífera-Coari. This seed produces valuable chemical properties in the oil – that is obtained through their produce – those that give superior quality and allow for the positioning of new and improved uses in the agro-industrial production chain.
These are the advantages of hybrid seed:
Superior tolerance and resistance to the most lethal plagues that attack and reduce productivity in oil palm-tree crops, both with: rotting of buds, surprise withering and annual spots. |
The possibility of improved production time for their minimum rate of annual grown of 0.22 m per year. |
To cut the harvest in only 2 returns per month, because the maturation of races is lengthier. |
To reduce the percentage of saturated fatty acids 5.2% |
To raise the percentage of oil acids 54.5% |
During 12 years of study there has been observed a uniform measure of production in all undertakings, with an average of 239.5 kilograms of RFF per tree per year, that is to say, 34.5 tons of RFF per hectare per year. |
The production of hybrid seeds in indupalma began in 1972, with the initial research into E. Oleífera material and with the conformation of the Germoplasma bank, in which there was the establishment of varias oleífera materials as found in Sinu, Peru and Coari.
